Wonderful interiors do not appear fully formed—they require research, insight and experience to design, and they demand sweat, time and effort to be built properly. Lynne’s goal is to help you create something both from your imagination—and beyond it. The best homes and environments are impossible to imagine any other way.
Good storytellers have to be good listeners, and good listening is a skill that requires curiosity, empathy and focus. Whether the project is business or residential, fully understanding the client and their needs requires thoughtful research and excellent listening.
I have had the opportunity to work with Lynne Parker on several residential design projects over the last year. Lynne is consistently professional, even when the inevitable occasional problem arises. Although she has a good range of product knowledge in regards to my field (drapery and soft furnishings), she is comfortable asking for my input when needed. The most recent project we worked on together was a very comprehensive remodel of an older home. The house now looks incredible, modern while respecting the original architecture. Lynne's ability to collaborate, along with anexperienced understanding of the limitations of materials & processes make her a pleasure to work with.
Lynne has been SO fun to work with , yet has been very professional from the start of our project, giving us referrals, ideas and opinions without making us feel like we have to stick to them. She is well up on current design trends, yet understood our need for designing something that would not be out of fashion in a few years, and designed for us accordingly. She has, throughout the project, given us many cost-saving ideas without compromising the look and feel of it. Lynne has been very flexible about how we would like her to bill us, with some parts being billed as sub-projects and other parts, on a per-hour basis, when we've preferred that. She is amazingly fair. She has met all our deadlines, even when they were impromptu! We would use Lynne again in a heartbeat!
Not only does Lynne possess all the skills one would expect in an interior designer (fresh ideas, an eye for color and a good sense of space to name just a few) but she has talents that I had not considered as valuable before the project started.Lynne has a wonderful personality and this enables her to connect and communicate with both clients and retailers in a warm, friendly and highly productive manner. She has used her charm to negotiate some great deals, organize expedited deliveries and get answers to questions that I was unable to secure on my own. She has also chased down furniture items, fabrics and lighting when other designers might have suggested we give up and go another route. When I saw something I liked in a copy of Architectural Digest, she made contact with the designer of the featured house and found out all sorts of useful information during the course of a friendly chat. She listens well. She always respects the needs and wants of the client but is not afraid to step in if she thinks you are making a terrible mistake. I particularly love that Lynne helped me to step outside my comfort zone. The results have been spectacular. I have been delighted with all work to date and look forward to a continued relationship with Lynne.
Lynne met with us in our home and asked very thoughtful questions about our favorite places, likes, and dislikes. At our next meeting she presented boards for each room showing furniture arrangement and some fabric recommendations for recovering our older furniture as well as recommendations for window coverings. We are particularly pleased with her idea to paper one wall in our dining room and one in our guest room. Both look fantastic! Lynne is fun to work with and has a gift for seeing the potential in a space.
